Brooklyn Nets Travel Guide: Barclays Center
How to Get There
Flying In: You have two main options in New York. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) are the most convenient for Brooklyn. Newark (EWR) is technically an option but makes for a much longer, multi-state commute.
Airport Transit: If you fly into JFK, do not rent a car. Take the JFK AirTrain directly to Jamaica Station, where you can easily transfer to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). The LIRR will drop you directly at the Atlantic Terminal, which sits literally right underneath Barclays Center. From LGA, taking an Uber or Lyft is your quickest, most straightforward path to Brooklyn.
Where to Stay
Barclays Center sits at the massive intersection of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues, perfectly positioned between downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope, and Fort Greene. Staying in this immediate footprint provides a deeply authentic Brooklyn neighborhood experience with unmatched walkability. In addition, with the NYC public transit capabilities staying in Manhattan is more than doable to get to a Nets game.
Budget/Mid-Range Options
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Brooklyn: Located roughly a half-mile from the arena, this is an excellent, highly reliable option for a sports weekend. It includes a free hot breakfast and keeps you right in the middle of Brooklyn's vibrant energy. You can typically book this for 30,000 to 45,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
EVEN Hotel Brooklyn, an IHG Hotel: Situated just a 10-minute walk from the Barclays Center gates, this wellness-focused hotel features in-room fitness zones and comfortable, modern rooms. It provides an excellent base camp for exploring the surrounding neighborhoods.
Higher-End Options
Hilton Brooklyn New York: Located in nearby Boerum Hill, this upscale hotel is less than a mile from the arena. It offers premium comfort, an on-site restaurant, and is perfectly positioned for walking to the game while avoiding the densest game-day traffic. Redemptions generally require 60,000 to 80,000 Hilton Honors points per night.
Ace Hotel Brooklyn: If you want a deeply trendy, culturally immersed stay, this boutique hotel sits on the edge of Boerum Hill and Downtown Brooklyn. It features stunning industrial-chic architecture, a fantastic lobby bar, and an in-house art gallery, making it an incredible luxury option just a short walk from tip-off.
Nearby Activities
Prospect Park: Designed by the same architects who built Central Park, this massive green space is just a short walk or subway ride away. It is beautiful year-round and perfect for a Saturday morning stroll.
Brooklyn Bridge Park & DUMBO: Take a short rideshare over to the waterfront to walk the cobblestone streets of DUMBO, grab a slice at Juliana's, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline from right under the Brooklyn Bridge.
Pregame Food and Drink
Fourth Avenue Pub: Located just down the street in Park Slope, this is an elite neighborhood spot for a pregame pint. It features an incredible rotating craft beer list, free popcorn, and a fantastic, relaxed outdoor patio.
McMahon's Public House: Situated just blocks from the arena, this classic Irish sports bar gets completely packed with Nets fans before tip-off. It features great pub fare, lots of screens, and a fantastic, high-energy atmosphere.
Inside the Arena (The Brooklyn Taste): Barclays Center revolutionized arena food by leaning heavily into local Brooklyn vendors. Skipping a massive meal beforehand to eat inside the concourse is a highly recommended strategy.
Getting to the Event
Subway & LIRR: Barclays Center has arguably the most perfect transit setup in the world. The Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center Station sits directly underneath the front plaza of the arena. It is serviced by nine different subway lines (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R) and the LIRR. You simply scan your ticket, ride the escalator up, and you are staring at the security gates.
Walking: If you stay in downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope, or Boerum Hill, walking is a joy. The sidewalks fill with fans pouring in from the surrounding neighborhoods.
Driving: Driving to Barclays Center is highly discouraged. The arena is located at one of the busiest intersections in the entire borough, and there is no massive dedicated parking lot. Rely exclusively on public transit or walking!
Where to Sit at Barclays Center
The Nets Bench: The home team sits in front of Section 7.
Away Fans: If you are traveling to support the visiting team, you want to target Section 9, which sits directly behind the visitor's bench.
The Premium Club Experience: For the absolute best luxury experience, look for seats in the Crown Club or The Toki Row. These ultra-premium, all-inclusive areas (often tied to lower-level sections or courtside seats) feature menus curated by the Major Food Group and design aesthetics mimicking historic Brooklyn brownstones.
The Loge Boxes: Located just above the lower bowl, the Loge Boxes offer a fantastic semi-private viewing experience with elevated sightlines, extra legroom, and dedicated wait service, making it a perfect middle ground between standard seats and massive suites.
The Budget Seats: The 200-level provides the most affordable tickets. Because Barclays Center has a uniquely steep upper deck, you actually feel incredibly close to the court, even from the top rows. For the best balance of price and center-court views, target the lower rows of Sections 207, 209, 223, or 225.
