How to Get There
Flying In: You will fly into Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Located just across the harbor from downtown, it is incredibly convenient and serves as a major hub for Delta and JetBlue.
Airport Transit: Boston offers a fantastic, free transit hack right from the airport. You can board the Silver Line (SL1) bus at any airport terminal completely free of charge. It takes you directly to South Station, where you can easily transfer to the rest of the "T" (MBTA subway system) or grab a quick rideshare to your hotel.
Where to Stay
TD Garden is located in the West End neighborhood, sitting directly on top of North Station. Staying in the West End or the adjacent North End puts you within minutes of the arena and some of the best Italian food in the country.
Budget/Mid-Range Options
Courtyard by Marriott Boston Downtown/North Station: This is an elite value option for a sports weekend. It is located just a couple of blocks from TD Garden, offering incredibly easy walking access to the gates. Redemptions typically range from 40,000 to 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
The Boxer: Located right in the Bulfinch Triangle historic district, this boutique hotel is just a five-minute walk from the arena. It features a great industrial-chic design and a cozy on-site restaurant, providing a unique neighborhood feel without breaking the bank.
Higher-End Options
Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown: Situated perfectly between the West End and the historic North End, this modern, upscale hotel is just steps from the arena. It features a fantastic rooftop bar and premium amenities. You can usually book this for 70,000 to 80,000 Hilton Honors points per night.
The Liberty, a Luxury Collection Hotel: For a truly unique luxury experience, stay at this hotel housed in the meticulously renovated 1851 Charles Street Jail. Located right on the edge of Beacon Hill, it features stunning architecture, high-end dining, and is a beautiful 10-minute walk to TD Garden. Redemptions generally require 60,000 to 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
Nearby Activities
The North End (Little Italy): Just a short walk from the arena, this historic neighborhood is packed with incredible Italian restaurants. You must grab a cannoli from either Mike's Pastry or Modern Pastry—the local rivalry is legendary.
The Freedom Trail: Boston is deeply historical. Walk the 2.5-mile brick-lined route that connects 16 nationally significant historical sites, including the Paul Revere House and the Old North Church.
Pregame Food and Drink
The Hub on Causeway: This massive entertainment complex is directly attached to TD Garden. It is the undisputed epicenter of the pregame party. Banners Kitchen & Tap is the crown jewel here, featuring a massive multi-story TV screen, upscale pub food, and an incredible craft beer list.
Sullivan's Tap: If you want an authentic, old-school, no-frills Boston dive bar experience before the game, "Sully's" is located right across the street from the arena. It is cheap, gets incredibly loud, and is packed shoulder-to-shoulder with die-hard Celtics fans.
Night Shift Brewing: Located just a short walk away at Lovejoy Wharf, this fantastic local brewery offers great views of the water, a massive tap list, and Detroit-style pizza in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than the immediate arena footprint.
Getting to the Event
The "T" (MBTA): Because TD Garden sits directly on top of North Station, taking public transit is the absolute best way to arrive. Both the Orange Line and the Green Line drop you directly under the arena, completely bypassing the notorious downtown Boston traffic.
Commuter Rail: If you are staying in the outer suburbs, the MBTA Commuter Rail lines from the north and west terminate right inside North Station, making it incredibly easy to commute in just for the game.
Driving: Driving to TD Garden is heavily discouraged. The streets surrounding the arena are narrow, one-way, and highly congested. If you must drive, pre-purchasing parking at the North Station Garage (located directly under the arena) is your best, albeit expensive, option.
Where to Sit at TD Garden
The Celtics Bench: The home team sits in front of Section 21.
Away Fans: If you are traveling to support the visiting team, you want to target Section 2, which sits directly behind the visitor's bench.
The Premium Club Experience: For upscale comfort, look for tickets in the Club Seating (Sections 107-115 and 137-145). These slightly elevated seats provide perfect sightlines and grant access to exclusive concourses with high-end food options, private restrooms, and full bars, allowing you to avoid the massive crowds in the main hallways.
The SportsDeck: Located on the east end of the arena, this is a premium, standing-room-only, pub-style viewing area. It offers a highly social atmosphere with great sightlines and dedicated bartenders.
The Budget Seats: The Balcony Level (300-level) offers the most affordable tickets. TD Garden's upper bowl is known for being steep, which creates an intimidating environment for opposing teams and keeps fans feeling relatively close to the action. For the best value and center-court views, target Sections 301, 316, 317, or 330.
