Miami Marlins Travel Guide: loanDepot park

Getting to Miami & The Ballpark

  • Flying In: Miami International Airport (MIA) is the primary hub, located just 5 miles from the stadium. It is heavily serviced by American Airlines (roughly 70% of flights), along with Delta and United.

  • Airport Transit: Because it is so close, taking an Uber/Lyft or driving a rental car from the airport to the stadium/downtown area is very fast and easy. There are rail and bus options that cost just $4-$6, but the trip will take over 45 minutes, so rideshare is highly recommended.

  • Traveling by Train: If you are coming from a nearby Florida city, Amtrak is a great option. The station is located just north of the city, about 7 miles from the ballpark.

  • The Neighborhood: loanDepot park is located in the heart of Little Havana. Because this is a highly residential neighborhood, hotel options immediately next to the stadium are almost non-existent. However, the stadium is only about 2 miles from the vibrant, action-packed waterfront of downtown Miami.

Where to Stay

Because the stadium is in a residential area, the best strategy is to stay in downtown Miami or Brickell to enjoy the beaches, restaurants, and nightlife, and then take a quick rideshare to the game.

Budget Options

  • SpringHill Suites by Marriott Miami Downtown/Medical Center: If you want to be as close to the stadium as possible, this is your best option. It is about a one-mile walk (or a very cheap rideshare) to the ballpark. It features spacious suites (perfect for families), an outdoor pool, and a free hot breakfast buffet.

  • Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Miami Brickell Downtown: Located in the trendy Brickell neighborhood just 2.5 miles from the stadium. It offers a surprisingly upscale vibe for a budget hotel, featuring bright Miami decor, a free hot breakfast, and a fantastic rooftop pool deck. It puts you right in the middle of incredible downtown dining and nightlife while keeping the commute to the game short.

Higher-End Options

  • Mandarin Oriental, Miami: For the ultimate luxury stay, this hotel sits on Brickell Key, a private man-made island just east of downtown. It features a high-end spa, an infinity pool, four on-site restaurants, and rooms with stunning skyline and ocean views. It is about 3 miles from the stadium and is the perfect choice for pairing a baseball trip with a 5-star South Florida resort experience.

  • InterContinental Miami: Located right on the downtown waterfront with beautiful views of Biscayne Bay. It features a grand lobby built around an Italian marble sculpture, a rooftop pool, a full-service spa, and an upscale Latin restaurant. It is walking distance to shopping and entertainment, and only 2.5 miles from loanDepot park.

Nearby Activities

  • Explore Little Havana: Before the game, walk down the famous Calle Ocho (8th Street) to experience the vibrant heart of Miami's Cuban culture. Stop by Domino Park to watch the locals play, and grab an authentic Cuban coffee or a cigar from a family-owned shop.

  • South Beach & The Art Deco District: If you are staying downtown, you are just a quick drive across the MacArthur Causeway to the world-famous South Beach. Spend the morning lounging on the sand or admiring the iconic pastel Art Deco architecture before heading inland for a night game.

Pregame Food and Drink

While Little Havana is mostly residential, there are several fantastic local spots to grab a bite or a drink before heading to the gates.

  • Seafood on the River: Garcia's Seafood Grille & Fish Market is an old-school, no-frills joint with an outdoor patio overlooking the Miami River. It is connected to a working fish market, so the seafood is incredibly fresh. For a much more expensive, fine-dining seafood experience on the river, check out Seaspice Brasserie & Lounge.

  • Casual Bites: If you want a quick, reasonably priced meal, check out Miami River Mexican Cuisine or head to CRUST for unique Italian dishes and specialty pizzas.

  • Craft Beer & Cocktails: Nightlife Brewing Company is located directly across the street from the stadium and is the absolute best spot for a pregame beer. It has a lively indoor/outdoor atmosphere and great happy hour specials. If you want craft cocktails with a Latin twist, walk south of the stadium to EDUKOS Beer House.

Getting to the Event

  • Public Transit: You can take the Miami Metrorail to the Culmer Station, which is about a mile from the stadium. From there, you can walk, or take advantage of the free shuttle that the Marlins operate between the station and the stadium on game days. You can also catch the free City of Miami Trolley, which runs a loop around the area and drops off near the ballpark.

  • Parking & Rideshare: Because Marlins games are generally poorly attended, traffic is usually light, and street parking is fairly easy to find if you want to save cash. The team also operates several large garages immediately adjacent to the stadium. If you are staying downtown, taking an Uber/Lyft is incredibly fast and cheap.

Where to Sit at loanDepot park

Because the stadium rarely sells out, you can almost always find incredible seats at a fraction of the price you would pay in other MLB cities.

  • The Best Views: Look for seats in the upper half of the sections directly behind home plate. They offer a perfect vantage point for tracking pitches. If you sit on the first-base side, you get the added bonus of seeing the downtown Miami skyline towering over the left-field wall.

  • Away Fans: If you are traveling to support the visiting team, look for Sections 8-10. These put you right behind the visitor's dugout on the first-base side.

  • The Budget Seats & Bobbleheads: The outfield sections are fantastic for budget-conscious fans. Right field is generally preferred so you have a direct view of the massive left-field scoreboard. Plus, sitting in the outfield gives you easy access to the stadium's massive, mesmerizing Bobblehead Museum exhibit located on the concourse.
