Atlanta Falcons Travel Guide: Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Getting to Atlanta & The Stadium
Flying In: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the busiest airport in the world and the primary hub for Delta Airlines. No matter where you are flying from, you can easily find a direct flight here.
Airport Transit: Do not rent a car or pay for a rideshare from the airport. Simply hop on the MARTA train (Red or Gold line) directly inside the airport terminal. It will take you straight into downtown Atlanta in about 20 minutes for a fraction of the cost.
The Neighborhood: Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a stunning architectural marvel located right in the heart of downtown Atlanta, sitting directly adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia World Congress Center.
Where to Stay
Because the stadium is so perfectly integrated into downtown, you have incredible hotel options that keep you within walking distance of the gates, the tourist attractions, and the best restaurants.
Budget Options
Hyatt Place Atlanta Centennial Park: Located just a half-mile from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, this is a fantastic budget-friendly launchpad. It sits right near Centennial Olympic Park, making the walk to the stadium incredibly fast and scenic. It presents an affordable yet comfortable choice, and also includes a free daily breakfast.
Home2 Suites by Hilton Atlanta Downtown: Situated in the historic Fairlie-Poplar district, this all-suite hotel is about a 0.6-mile walk to the stadium. It is perfect for families or groups who need extra space and a kitchenette without paying premium downtown prices.
Higher-End Options
Signia by Hilton Atlanta Georgia World Congress Center: This massive, brand-new luxury hotel is literally steps from the stadium. Situated directly within the GWCC complex, it offers unparalleled game-day convenience, world-class dining, and rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the stadium.
Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park: This high-end hotel sits right on Centennial Olympic Park and is connected to the CNN Center. It offers incredible views, upscale amenities, and is within a very convenient walking distance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Nearby Activities
Georgia Aquarium: Located just a few blocks from the stadium, this is one of the largest and most impressive aquariums in the world. It’s an absolute must-visit for families before a Sunday game.
College Football Hall of Fame: Football fans have to make a stop here. It’s a massive, highly interactive museum celebrating the history of college football, located right next to Centennial Olympic Park.
Pregame Food and Drink
The Ultimate Tailgate: The Home Depot Backyard is a massive, 11-acre green space located right on the stadium's footprint (built exactly where the old Georgia Dome used to sit). On game days, it turns into an incredible, highly organized tailgating festival.
The Brewery Scene: Wild Leap Atlanta is a massive, multi-level brewery located just steps from the stadium in the Centennial Yards development. It’s the perfect spot to grab a local craft beer and some food before walking to the gates. Alternatively, STATS Brewpub is a massive 16,000-square-foot sports bar nearby with over 70 screens and great house-brewed beers.
Upscale Stadium Views: If you want elevated pub food and craft cocktails, head to Nest on Four. Located inside the new Signia by Hilton, this upscale sports bar features an immersive halo of TVs and floor-to-ceiling windows where you can watch fans streaming toward the stadium.
Getting to the Event
MARTA: Public transit is the undisputed king in Atlanta. Take the MARTA train to either the GWCC/CNN Center Station or the Vine City Station. Both drop you off mere steps from the stadium entrances.
Walking: If you are staying anywhere near Centennial Olympic Park, walking is the absolute easiest way to arrive.
Driving: Traffic around downtown Atlanta on a Sunday can be brutal. If you must drive, you absolutely need to pre-purchase a parking pass in one of the official Red or Silver decks, as surface lots will price gouge.
Where to Sit at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is famous for two things: the stunning "Oculus" retractable roof and its "Fan First" pricing (which means hot dogs and sodas are incredibly cheap!).
The Best Views: Look for tickets in the 200-level (specifically Sections 208-209 or 240-241). These sections provide the absolute perfect height to see the plays develop while staying intimately close to the action.
The Premium Experience: The lower 100-level sideline seats are Club Level. They offer wider, cushioned seats and access to exclusive, massive field-level clubs where you can literally stand behind the Falcons bench.
Away Fans: If you are cheering for the visiting team, look for Sections 126-130. Try to grab tickets in rows 20-35; this puts you directly behind the visitor's sideline with a perfect view that clears the players' helmets.
The Value Seats: The corner sections in the lower bowl (like 104, 116, 122, and 134) offer fantastic value. If you are on a strict budget, the 300-level is very high up, but the stadium features a massive, 360-degree "Halo Board" video screen that ensures you never miss a replay, making the upper deck a surprisingly great experience.
