How to Get There

• Flying In: While New York City is served by three major airports, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is by far the most convenient option. It is located in New Jersey, just 10 miles south of the stadium, allowing you to completely avoid the brutal traffic of crossing state lines and rivers from JFK or LaGuardia.

• Airport Transit: If you are staying in Manhattan, the easiest option is to take the AirTrain from EWR directly to the NJ Transit trains that run straight into New York Penn Station. If you are staying near the stadium in New Jersey, relying on an Uber or Lyft is your quickest route.

• The Neighborhood: MetLife Stadium is not located in New York; it sits in East Rutherford, New Jersey, within the sprawling Meadowlands Sports Complex.

Where to Stay

You have two distinct strategies for a MetLife Stadium trip: stay in the Meadowlands for pure game-day convenience, or stay in Midtown Manhattan for the classic New York City experience while relying on the train to get to the game.

Budget Options

• Hilton Meadowlands: Located just a few minutes from the stadium complex, this is an incredibly popular launchpad for fans looking to prioritize proximity over the city hustle. It features comfortable rooms, an on-site restaurant, and is perfectly positioned for a quick rideshare to the tailgate lots.

• Courtyard by Marriott Secaucus Meadowlands: Situated right off the highway in nearby Secaucus, this hotel offers highly reliable, comfortable accommodations. It keeps you close to the stadium and sits right next to the massive Plaza at Harmon Meadow, giving you easy walking access to casual restaurants and shopping.

Higher-End Options

• The New Yorker, A Wyndham Hotel: If you want a classic, historic city experience that perfectly positions you for game day, this iconic Art Deco hotel sits straight across the street from New York Penn Station. This means you can walk out your front door directly to the NJ Transit trains heading to the stadium.

• Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel: Located right in the Garment District near Penn Station, this sophisticated luxury hotel features high-end rooms, stunning skyline views, and a fantastic rooftop lounge, all while keeping your transit commute to the Meadowlands incredibly streamlined.

Nearby Activities

• American Dream: Located literally right next to the stadium in the Meadowlands, this massive, 3-million-square-foot entertainment complex is mind-blowing. It houses a massive indoor theme park, a huge indoor water park, an indoor ski slope (Big Snow), and hundreds of stores.

• Midtown Manhattan Sights: If you stay in the city, you are within a short subway ride or walk to Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the massive Hudson Yards development.

Pregame Food and Drink

• Tailgate Joe: You absolutely must check out the premier Jets fan tailgate. Tailgate Joe is the largest and most famous fan-run tailgate at MetLife Stadium, operating in Lot E. Purchasing a pass gets you access to an incredible, high-end BBQ menu (we're talking grilled steaks, custom burgers, and local craft beer) and places you right in the heart of the die-hard Jets community.

• The Massive Meadowlands Tailgate: The parking lots at MetLife Stadium are legendary. Because the stadium is surrounded by acres of asphalt, tailgating is practically a requirement. The massive lots open five hours before kickoff and are filled with elaborate setups, green and white buses, and thousands of passionate fans chanting "J-E-T-S!"

• American Dream Pregame: If you want to grab drinks indoors, head to the American Dream mall right next to the stadium footprint. Yard House features the world's largest selection of draft beers, while House of 'Que offers smoked meats, craft cocktails, and massive screens to watch the early games.

Getting to the Event

• NJ Transit (The Meadowlands Rail Line): This is the undisputed best way to get to the game from the city. Hop on any NJ Transit train from New York Penn Station to Secaucus Junction. From there, you transfer to the Meadowlands Rail Line, which drops you off directly at the stadium gates. The entire trip takes about 25-30 minutes and bypasses all highway traffic.

• Coach USA 351 Meadowlands Express: If you prefer the bus, this direct shuttle service departs from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and drops you off right at the stadium complex.

• Driving: If you choose to drive or rent a car, be aware that you must prepay for a parking pass. You cannot pay cash at the toll plazas on game day, and traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike can be notoriously heavy.

Where to Sit at MetLife Stadium

• The Jets Sideline & Premium Club: The home sideline is on the East side of the stadium (Sections 111-115). If you sit in rows 15-30 in these sections, you get incredible, elevated views of the field and the Jets bench, plus access to the EY Coaches Club, an exclusive field-level club featuring an all-inclusive premium food and non-alcoholic beverage menu.

• The Fireman Ed Section: If you want to be part of the most famous chant in football, you want to be near Section 134 in the lower-level end zone. This is where legendary super-fan Fireman Ed historically leads the entire stadium in the "J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!" chant. It is the absolute loudest and most passionate section of the crowd.

• Visiting Fans: The visitor's sideline is on the West side (Sections 137-146). For the absolute best midfield view behind the away bench, look for tickets in Section 139, which grants access to the ultra-premium MetLife 50 Club.

• The Sweet Spot (Mezzanine Club): The 200-level at MetLife Stadium is highly regarded for its perfect sightlines. Specifically, the Mezzanine Club (Sections 207C-220C and 232C-245C) provides an excellent elevated perspective, extra legroom, and access to massive, climate-controlled indoor lounges with high-end food options.

• The Budget Seats: The 300-level offers the most affordable tickets. Because the stadium is massive, the upper deck can feel incredibly high. To get the best bang for your buck, look for tickets in midfield Sections 313-316 or 338-341 and stick to rows 1-5 to minimize the climb and keep the field action visible.
