Memphis Grizzlies Travel Guide: FedExForum

How to Get There

  • Flying In: You will fly into Memphis International Airport (MEM). While it is the massive global headquarters for FedEx, it is not a major passenger hub. However, you can still easily find direct flights on major domestic carriers like American, Delta, and Southwest Airlines.

  • Airport Transit: Memphis relies primarily on vehicle transit. The airport is only about 15 minutes away from downtown, so skipping the rental car and grabbing an Uber or Lyft from the terminal is highly efficient and will drop you right at your hotel doors for a very reasonable price.

Where to Stay

FedExForum has one of the absolute best locations in the NBA. It sits right in the heart of Downtown Memphis, practically attached to the legendary Beale Street entertainment district. Staying downtown gives you completely unbeatable walkability to the arena, live music, and incredible barbecue.

Budget/Mid-Range Options

  • Moxy Memphis Downtown: Located right on Main Street, this highly stylized, modern Marriott property is just a short walk to the arena. It features a great lobby bar (where you check in and receive a complimentary cocktail) and typically runs between 20,000 to 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

  • Canopy by Hilton Memphis Downtown: Situated just a few blocks from FedExForum, this comfortable hotel leans heavily into local Memphis culture and design. It puts you in a perfect, safe location for exploring downtown and walking to the gates.

Higher-End Options

  • The Westin Memphis Beale Street: You literally cannot get any closer to the game. This property is located directly across the street from FedExForum. It is an incredibly convenient, premium launchpad for a sports weekend and usually requires 30,000 to 45,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

  • The Peabody Memphis: This is one of the most famous historic hotels in the South. Located just a few blocks from the arena, it offers old-school luxury, a fantastic lobby bar, and you can watch the legendary daily "Peabody Duck March" before heading to tip-off.

Nearby Activities

  • The National Civil Rights Museum: Built directly into the former Lorraine Motel, this is a deeply moving, incredibly comprehensive museum chronicling the American Civil Rights Movement. It is an absolute must-visit while in Memphis.

  • Beale Street: This three-block stretch of downtown is the "Home of the Blues." It is packed with neon lights, live music pouring out of every door, and allows you to walk down the street with a drink in hand.

Pregame Food and Drink

  • Rendezvous: Located in a downtown alleyway just a short walk from the arena, this legendary barbecue joint has been serving their world-famous dry-rub ribs since 1948. It is a massive staple of Memphis culture and the perfect pregame meal.

  • Silky O'Sullivan's: Situated right on Beale Street, this iconic Irish pub with a deep Southern twist features live dueling pianos, incredible barbecue, and a massive outdoor patio complete with a tower where their resident goats live and climb.

  • Ghost River Brewing Co.: If you want to grab a great local craft beer before the game, their taproom is located right on Beale Street. It offers a relaxed pregame atmosphere just steps from the stadium crowds.

Getting to the Event

  • Walking: If you secure a hotel in the downtown core, walking is the absolute best way to reach the arena. Memphis has a very compact downtown footprint, and the sidewalks will be filled with fans heading toward the massive FedExForum plaza right off Beale Street.

  • Driving: If you choose to drive from the suburbs, you will want to pre-purchase a parking pass for the Gossett Motors Parking Garage, which is directly adjacent to the arena and connects via a dedicated pedestrian bridge.

Where to Sit at FedExForum

  • The Grizzlies Bench: The home team sits in front of Section 104.

  • Away Fans: If you are traveling to support the visiting team, you want to target Section 106, which sits directly behind the visitor's bench.

  • The Premium Club Experience: The Pinnacle Club Level offers a fantastic VIP experience. Located between the lower and upper bowls, these tickets grant access to an exclusive, less-crowded concourse, elevated mid-level sightlines, and high-end food and beverage options.

  • The Sweet Spot: To get great lower-bowl energy without the massive center-court premium prices, look at the corner sections, specifically Sections 102, 108, 111, or 117.

  • The Budget Seats: The Terrace Level (200-level) provides the most affordable tickets. For the best balance of price and a full-court view without needing binoculars, target the lower rows of center-court Sections 204-206 or 220-222.
